Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive (Event 2)

For my second event, I volunteered at the Pawtucket Red Sox Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive. At the event, we collected boxes and filled them with canned food, and other food for thanksgiving. People that were at the event were all ages (youth and adults). We collected a total of 700 boxes and stacked them in a separate room to give out to those who do not have meal for thanksgiving. It was a joy being there and to know that 700 families/individuals will have meal on Thanksgiving Day.
It is more encouraging to youth when adults are being involved in positives things. I believe that once youth see that the adults are setting examples, it will be easy for the youth to follow. I was happy to see so many young people at this event and being involve in something positive. It shows that there are many youth in the world that cares about the well-being of others. This created a sense of community. To see people coming together to put a smile on someone's face is heartwarming. By volunteering my time, it made me happy to know that I would be a help to someone. The 5 reasons to give and/or the 5 Ways Giving is Good article will help encourage those who do not see the need to give to the community or to give in general. Giving could be in a form of volunteering as well. It would be used to educate youth and adults why giving their time or other resources is important.
